Recipe of the Week: Cocoa Matcha Protein Power Drops

It’s incredible how much power you can pack into one bite! Recently, I set out, scouring the web for the best, most nutrient-dense grab-and-go snack. After a lot of kitchen testing (and floor crumb licking from my trusted four-legged friend), I finally came up with a recipe for a protein ball I could be ultra proud of. This recipe blends a mixture of protein, healthy fats, and antioxidants without the chalkiness of some recipes. Matcha Green Tea Powder provides the knock-out antioxidant punch, coupled with mineral-dense cocoa. Chia seeds deliver another dose of antioxidants plus heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids. The best part? They taste incredible (WARNING: they are so good, you’re going to want more than one!). The other great bonus is that you can refrigerate and freeze! This recipe is sure to be a new post-workout snack for you!
Makes 8 servings
Ingredients:
½ cup Smuckers Natural Peanut Butter (this is a great PB for taste and ingredient quality)
1TBSP Matcha Powder (you can find this in the tea section of the grocery store)
1 TBSP Cocoa Powder (my go-to powder is Divine Chocolate’s Cocoa Powder)
1 TBSP Chia Seeds
6 TBSP honey
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder (I really like Beverly International’s UMP. This is a solid company with a verified ingredient profile).
Directions:
- In a food processor, add all ingredients and mix until smooth
- Using a small ice cream scoop or melon baller, scoop into 1 ½ inch balls
- Enjoy!
Note: These are great straight out of the processor, but even better refrigerated!
