Recipe of the Week: Vanilla Chai Protein Shake

Sometimes you just want to try something a little different to shake up (pun totally intended) your protein regime. Sure, the good old standby chocolate, vanilla, strawberry protein shakes are great on the run, but maybe you want to add a little spice to this routine. Running to my favorite local coffee shop the other day, I ordered a vanilla chai latte. To me, this flavor is so comforting in the winter, and so I decided to whip up my own “power” version to fuel my next workout! If you like chai, this one’s for you!


  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I like Beverly International for their industry standards and consistency in product. Their flavors don’t leave a weird aftertaste)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp ginger
  • ¼ tsp cardamom
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ⅛ tsp ground clove
  • ½ cup ice
  • 1 cup water (or milk of choice)


  • In a small bowl, combine all spices thoroughly and set aside
  • In a blender, add ice, then water, then protein powder
  • Blend briefly
  • Add spices and blend thoroughly 
  • Serve and enjoy!
